Bryant k Aka Bryant Steward. downtown swinger.. was born in St. Louis Mo. lived in New York, Berlin and many other places.. He was born to be a nomad. His father was respected trucker from the deita.. and as a youngin he was expose to many types of  music. He fond of Scott Joplin, and classical music at Powell Symphony Hall. My brother was a drummer early on, he was into jazz, smooth stuff like Grover Washington Jr.,  Donald Byrd, Blackbyrds and Marvin Gaye " I want you".. My sister was more =Motown, Minnie Ripelton, Slyvers, Patrice Rushen, Michael Jackson.  My mom was the spiritual one, she like staxs, blues, gospel, Tina Turner. Bk brought the hip hop to family, Run Dmc, Malcolm Mc claren, Mantronix, Tom Tom Club..

My mom grew up across the street from the davises.. Miles Davis in East St. Louis and i also learned that Jackie Wilson was in our blood line so we love some music. Most of my family stretch from St.Louis, Chicago, and Detroit and this where my inspiration came to make music..

I grew up in public housing called "Bluemeyer" near Powell Symphony hall and where Josephine Baker grew up .. Across Bell ave stood Carver and the legendary Vashon High School. a big basketball school,  it was alumni of Clark Terry, Donnie Hathaway, the spinks brothers, Maxine Waters and  many others legends, It was a community with dignity and pride not only hood.

My first gig for money was singing doo wop and break dance on the street corners of downtown St. Louis..We begin performing in local and state talent shows,  Small gigs at community centers and the over 35 crowd. They loved us. My group members was in it for the perks.. the girl crushes, candy, pizza and soda..

We where like the young dramatics.. we would perform ballads from ray goodman and brown, stylistics, and lakeside. It was in part---the slow dance era.. We also wrote our own commercial jingles for the coke brand. ...

After 5 years or so the group, grew up but not apart. I would still  dig for my music as a kid.. buying records. 45s, 12'inches and albums.. i got into football, basketball cards,, sports. I played football, boxing, and basketball. I traveled playing on a youth harlem globetrotter team called the ZIPS.. We traveled everywhere on the weekends . Chicago, New york, Canada playing local teams and performing halftime shows for NBA and NCAA teams..  We went from Madison Square to the forum in LA. This is when i got my itch to travel. So after high school,  i left St. Louis and went south to Southern University Baton Rouge with my best friends ..We had mad fun. I Love it .  but the next year i transfer to  Howard University in DC.  i studied Theatre Arts : Acting and English. While pursing my education i did plays audition for commercials  model worked at Martha"s Table youth center, i also worked for wolly mamouth theatre teaching urban kids mediation and theatre...

Years later I had an opportunity in New York and thats when i decided to move. I ended up downtown and that.s when the downtown swinger was born.. I would work odd jobs, hang at cool spots, girls, Art parties, meeting  people. I lived in flea markets and record store just buying stuff and records... I was the Soho Bum. carry my records on  my radio flyer to my gigs.. i would do small parties playing music i loved and for cool people and who"s Who..

Years into NY i went to LA for a hiatus for one year .. i started to dig gems out there getting into music and it was a life changer..  got on the road around the US  and europe, came back to New york ..I started playing,. people like it and i became an item on the downtown scene. I was Playing everywhere private parties, underground ,  rock clubs:  the hole,  Lit ..Sway. Wax. Lotus. Butter. Lot 61. Nublu and i was a resident thursday night at the Thompson hotel Soho..

Then and opportunity arise,  Buddies of mine where starting an independent radio station called the east village radio. They ask if i would be involved, that's when i started the  radio show B-sides. It became one of the stations favorites. I eventually teamed up with Queen Majesty (Deadly Dragon Sound) later on.

This is when i started to make that transition to make my own music.  i had a studio at my place... i would record dubbing with my cd burner.. my wurlitzer and bass... I would make music with anything i had in the room.. I finally decided to go to escape to europe to work on my own stuff.  Leaving my show to  Queen.

I Just packed my 1680 an old mac, mpc drum machine, and records.. underwear and a few items of clothing. Then i was off..

I ended up in Prague.. There i begin working on my early sketches like daisies grow, let the birds fly, stars, i was working ona lot of music , some was very interesting but lot of it was awful....i was not an accomplish musician.. but i was not afraid to play and i play with feel.  it came natural to me. the skills i think i have was i have great taste in music.. a nak for good melody and the ability toarrange,  write a good song and sing..  I learned how to do beats on the mpc and i love acting like chopin on a piano. i had a shit load of samples ..that i wanted to use.. but never use. but ended up using them as references.. Because i wanted to create my own music

While in Prague i applied for an Artist in residency at the Meetfactory. and I got it..   I was the first artist in residency based on music.. which turned out be one of my extradionary experiences in my life.. I produced a project with 7 different artist from around the world.. exhibition consist of photos, small documentary and live performance..  This where i created daisies grow...it was like a romantic the way i lived. i was happy because i was making music..

After i finished my residency. I moved to Berlin for a few years. then back to New York, Bedstuy Brooklyn exact..where i did some cool stuff dope man. . and returned back to Berlin in 2014 to write my new project.. Beautiful words..

I met up with a great musician from Stockholm  Christopher Cook and Giovanni Mazzioto brazilian bassist to make my best work yet.. At the Meetfactory I rented an artilier for 10 days and we went in... I  had the idea of what i wanted, something minimal but live and beautiful. It was great experiences..  After the 10 days.. i went back to Berlin with the sketches and start mapping out ... my project..

I would delete arrange the tunes, add things. I  would meet up with giovanni from time to time write new stuff.. and bring on collaborators like .. Karo Safari, Saxophonist Martin Debricka, Mathmicmusic.. Asten Meyer. Dylan Maida.

While writing i would travel for inspiration.. i was in Poland, Turkey all over Europe..  Turkey is where i wrote dreams and rooms. I had a great time there. i was a mad man in the cut. I stayed in a gypsie part of town called Balat fener.....  I was a resident dj at Nublu Istanbul for the weekends.  My off time i would write. There  i wrote rooms and dreams.. Which came from my experience at the time.. My ex keyboardist,  Dylan Maida in NY. We connected and i told him i like what he was doing and  he send me 3 songs.. and when i heard dreams and rooms. I immediately start to work,  think i wrote these song in a matter of 3 days.. the lyrics just came top to bottom on my lab top mic..  I was flowing and focus. .. i even wrote a screenplay. based on the music during this time...

I eventually finish my project and made so much music along the way. I love music.. and love to experience life. my heroes had so much character and intellect though just there music.. and that's the impression i strive for when you hear my music.. even if you don't get it today. I don't mind ..but hopefully  one day you will... Hear the message i convey in my music...
